Is Flotil free?
Yes! Flotil is 100% free. There are no subscriptions, no ads, no paywalls, and no hidden fees.
Which music players work?
Any player that shows up in the Windows media overlay: Spotify, Apple Music, Windows Media Player, and most players in Chrome, Edge and Firefox, including YouTube.
Why doesn't a song have lyrics?
Lyrics come from LRCLIB, a free community library. Popular songs almost always have synced lyrics; some local or newer songs don't yet.
Will it slow down my PC?
No. Flotil only draws while something on it is moving. When it's idle it uses no CPU at all, even with music playing in the background.
My antivirus flagged the installer. Is it safe?
Flotil listens for the volume, brightness, Caps Lock and language keys so it can show their overlays, which a few antivirus tools treat with suspicion. It never records or sends what you type. Only download it from this page.
How do I update?
Download the latest ZIP installer and run it. It cleanly updates Flotil while keeping your tasks, shelf items, and settings intact.
How do I quit or stop it starting with Windows?
Click the Flotil icon in the system tray, near the clock, and choose Quit Flotil to exit. To stop it starting with Windows, select Open Settings from the tray menu and turn off "Start with Windows".
Privacy
Your privacy is built-in by design. Flotil carries zero tracking, analytics, or background telemetry. Everything you organize — from your tasks and shelf files to your settings — stays strictly on your local device.
When fetching synced lyrics, Flotil reaches out to LRCLIB (lrclib.net) using only the current track's title, artist name, and duration to retrieve the lyrics.
